Mark Chapman, 59,  killer of former Beatles singer John Lennon who is serving a 20 year to life sentence at the wende correctional facility in new york will remain behind bars after he was denied parole for the eighth time. Lennon”s widow, Yoko Ono, 81, opposed his release. Officials today said they feared he may commit more crimes if he was released, 34 years after he shot and killed the legendary singer John Lennon.

Based on the decision, the three-member parole said they have determined there is a reasonable probability that if he was released on time, he would not live and remain at liberty without again violating the law, and also added that his release would not be compatible the society’s welfare and would therefore depreciate the serious nature of the crime as to undermine respect for the law.

Chapman wont be eligible to apply for parole again for another two years.
